Rescue operation abandoned in Tswinga
A dramatic incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon when a white bakkie was swept away while attempting to cross the flooded Tswinga Bridge in the Vhembe District, Limpopo.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was carrying three foreign nationals who were travelling to deliver stock to a local supermarket. The bridge was waterlogged following heavy rainfall in the area, causing river levels to rise dangerously.

As the bakkie attempted to cross, strong currents overwhelmed the vehicle and swept it downstream.
Police search-and-rescue divers were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident and began searching the river for the occupants and the vehicle.
However, due to worsening conditions and safety concerns, emergency services later abandoned the operation. Authorities confirmed that the search will resume on Sunday.
