Suspect wounded after shootout with police in Limpopo
A 23-year-old suspect is under police guard after being wounded during a shootout with police officers at Rapotokwane village in Limpopo on Monday morning, 5 January 2026.
Police reports indicate that the incident followed an alleged business robbery at a local general dealer.

It is alleged that three African male suspects targeted the shop, with two entering while posing as customers. Once inside, one suspect reportedly produced a firearm and threatened an employee, demanding cash. An undisclosed amount of money was taken during the robbery.
The second suspect allegedly moved behind the counter and stole several items, including cartons of cigarettes and a flash machine. The suspects then fled the scene and joined a third accomplice who was waiting in a black Toyota Yaris.

While attempting to escape, the suspects encountered police officers who were conducting routine patrols in the area. A shootout ensued between the suspects and police.
During the exchange, one suspect was shot by police. He was immediately taken to hospital under police guard and placed under arrest. The remaining suspects fled on foot after abandoning the vehicle. Police investigations are continuing.
