Community members kill man accused of murdering his girlfriend
A man accused of brutally murdering his girlfriend was killed by community members in Tjibeng Village, Sekhukhune District, Limpopo, on Friday, 26 December 2025.
According to preliminary investigations, a 38-year-old woman was found lying in a pool of blood with a deep cut to her throat. She was allegedly attacked and killed by her 40-year-old boyfriend.

It is further alleged that, prior to the attack, the victim had locked herself inside the house out of fear for her life.
The suspect reportedly gained access after convincing a family member to let him in. Once inside, he allegedly killed the victim and fled the scene through a window.
During the suspect’s escape, the victim’s younger brother gave chase and managed to apprehend him. However, the suspect allegedly stabbed the brother several times before fleeing again. The injured brother later collapsed and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Community members then joined the pursuit, apprehended the suspect near a local tavern and assaulted him using various objects, including stones. He sustained serious injuries and was certified dead at the scene.
Police in Limpopo have opened two cases of murder and one case of attempted murder.
