MEC Makamu warns residents of severe weather conditions
Limpopo MEC for CoGHSTA Basikopo Makamu has urged all residents to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures as severe weather conditions continue to affect various parts of the province.
The South African Weather Service has issued an Impact-Based Warning: Orange Level 6 for severe thunderstorms expected to occur today, 16 November 2025, with further unstable weather conditions anticipated from 16–18 November 2025.

The warnings indicate the possibility of heavy rainfall, strong winds, hail, and lightning—conditions that may result in localised damage to homes, infrastructure, informal settlements, livelihoods, and livestock.
All five district municipalities, Capricorn, Mopani, Sekhukhune, Waterberg, and Vhembe, have already experienced significant rainfall. At this stage, no major incidents or severe damages have been reported.

“The safety of all residents remains a top priority. The public is encouraged to remain alert and adhere to guidance issued by authorities throughout this period of heightened weather risk,” said Makamu.
He has urged communities to:
Avoid crossing flooded roads, low-lying bridges, and river streams.
Shelter indoors during thunderstorms and avoid open fields and tall structures.
Secure loose items around homes to prevent wind-related damage.
Report incidents promptly to local authorities or disaster management centres.
Also follow official updates issued by the PDMC, municipalities, and SAWS.
