Lekompo artist Juddy Malekere passes away

Lekompo artist Juddy Malekere, popularly known as Juddy Malekere 99, has passed away on Saturday night, 15 November.

While official details surrounding his death have not yet been confirmed, it is alleged that he was one of the passengers involved in a head-on collision at the intersection of Grobler and Magazyn Streets in Polokwane three weeks ago.

The same accident left fellow Lekompo star Melita “Kharishma” Mogale hospitalised, while the driver, Vincent Maphopha, sadly passed away and was laid to rest last weekend. Kharishma remains in hospital.

Malekere was a final year student of Bachelor of Education specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics [STEM] at the University of Limpopo.

His death comes two weeks after the tragic passing of Dr Nel from Lephalale. Dr Nel, real name Nel Molimisi, was laid to rest at his home in Botshabelo Village, Lephalale, in Limpopo on Saturday last week.

The 31-year-old was allegedly killed and dumped along the road in Botshabelo Village. His body was discovered in the early hours of Sunday morning, 2 November, by a passerby.

His music, which celebrated local culture and community pride, earned him admiration that reached far beyond his home province.
