Peter Mokaba Stadium to host Carling knockout final
The Premier Soccer League has confirmed the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane as the host venue for the Carling Knockout final.
The Carling Knockout final is set to take place on Saturday, 6 December, with Orlando Pirates taking on Marumo gallants.
The two teams qualified after this past weekend’s semi-final fixtures. Pirates beat Richards Bay 1-0 on Saturday, while Marumo beat Golden Arrows 4-2 on penalties on Sunday.

Executive Mayor of Polokwane, Makoro John Mpe, has welcomed the announcement. Mpe also highlighted the broader impact such events have on the city’s developmental agenda.
“The hosting of the Carling Knockout Final in our city reaffirms Polokwane’s role as the economic stimulator of Limpopo Province,” he said.
“Major sporting events unite our people through the love of football and also drive local economic growth. Our hospitality industry, transport operators, and informal traders all stand to benefit.
“Through this final, we are creating platforms for local entrepreneurs to earn an income, feed their families, and contribute to the broader vision of an economically inclusive city.”

Meanwhile, Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba also expressed her excitement and gratitude following the announcement.
She stated that the decision reflects the PSL’s continued confidence in Limpopo’s capability to successfully host major sporting events.
“As the Provincial Government, we are delighted that the Premier Soccer League has chosen the Peter Mokaba Stadium to host the Carling Knockout Final between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants on 6 December 2025,” said Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba.
“This announcement is a clear indication of the PSL’s confidence in our province’s ability to successfully host major sporting events.
“We are truly honoured and excited to welcome football fans from across the country to Polokwane. The PSL can rest assured that Limpopo will deliver a vibrant atmosphere and a full house on the day.”
