Limpopo bids farewell to Vincent Maphopha
Family, friends, government officials and artists gathered in mourning on Saturday to bid farewell to Vincent Maphopha, the 24-year-old driver of popular Limpopo musician Kharishma, who tragically passed away in a car accident last week.
The funeral was held at Motetema, Ward 31, under the Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, Limpopo.

Among those present were the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr. Funani Nqamane “Jerry” Maseko, the MMC for Infrastructure Services, Cllr Rhodes Msiza,representing the Mayor of Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality, Cllr David Tladi, the MMC for Integrated Water Services in Sekhukhune Municipality, Cllr Carpos Ngobeni, and the Head of Department (HOD), Ms. Kgathane Veronica Mokgonyana. The service was followed by Vincent’s burial at Ngwalemong Cemetery.
Maseko also extended his heartfelt condolences to Vincent’s family, Kharishma, and the Limpopo music fraternity, describing the young man’s passing as a great loss to both the arts and academic communities.
“Vincent represented the values of humility, dedication, and service; qualities we must continue to honor as we celebrate his life,” said MEC Maseko.

Vincent, a final-year Plant Production student at the University of Limpopo, was known for his balance between academics and his commitment to supporting local artists. Friends and fellow musicians described him as humble, hardworking, and full of life.
His untimely passing has left the province’s music industry in mourning, with fans and colleagues sharing tributes celebrating his kindness, professionalism, and bright spirit.
