Shack fire leaves 200 homeless in Hoetspruit
A devastating shack fire swept through the Plastic View Informal Settlement in Hoedspruit, Limpopo on Friday night, November 7.
Preliminary reports indicate that approximately 100 shacks were destroyed, leaving around 200 people affected.

The fire broke out early on Friday evening and residents stood on the side of the road watching their homes being engulfed by flames.
No injuries or fatalities were reported during or after the incident. Maruleng Local Municipality says they are arranging temporary shelter and has activated support measures to assist affected families.

Municipal spokesperson Justice Shipalana said on Saturday morning that the cause of the fire remains unknown, but strong winds had intensified the blaze, causing it to spread rapidly across the densely populated area.
