Waterberg Traditional Council members sworn into office
A total number of 110 members of Traditional Councils in Waterberg, Limpopo are today taking an oath and being sworn in into their new roles.
Following the process of reconstituting Traditional Councils in March 2024 ,141 Traditional Councils comprising of 60% elected by royal families and 40% elected by traditional communities have been constituted and gazetted to date.

The members sworn in represent Babirwa, Bakone, Lekalakala, Mapela and Nkidikitlana and will serve in the respective councils for a period of five years.

Speaking during the ceremony in Mokopane, Kgoshi Matlala congratulated the members and emphasized that they must view the swearing in as a public promise, a ceremonial and legal beginning of their duties.
“By taking this oath today, you are making a solemn promise to perform your duties of the Office faithfully and to the best of your ability. Let us join hands and work together for the benefit of our communities,’’ he said.
