Municipality threatens to close down non-compliant Savannah Mall
Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor John Mpe says they have received a report that the Savannah Mall in Polokwane, Limpopo, is non-compliant and plan to take action.
Mpe says they have since instructed the mall operators to appoint a structural engineer and if they fail to adhere to the directives, the Municipality will close down the mall.

“We have a report that shows that the whole at the occupational space, Savannah Mall, was fine. However, out of all the refurbishments that have happened there, Savannah Mall is now a non-compliant Mall that we are going to take action.
“We have instructed them to appoint a structural engineer who will advise them. But according to our engineers, Savannah Mall itself is not in compliance with our regulations, and we are going to take action,” he added.
“If Savannah Mall do not adhere to our directives, we will close down the Mall because the safety of our people is much more important than profit and any other commercial activities happening in Polokwane.”
