Patrice Motsepe asked to save the ANC from collapse
A group calling itself Unity 2022 has called on the ANC NEC to approach businessman Patrice Motsepe to become the party president.
The group has warned that the ANC risks facing its demise should they go into the next general elections without the face of Patrice Motsepe as its next president.
Briefing the media at Thaba Moshate in Burgersfort, Limpopo, on Tuesday, Unity 2022 Chairperson Emmanuel Makgoga says there is no one in the current NEC to save the ANC from total collapse.

Makgoga compared the current ANC situation to that of 1940, when the ANC took a resolution to elect Alfred Xuma as its president.
“So we, as Unity 2022, feel that the ANC needs a similar person as the 1940 generation did, and we see that person as Patrice Motsepe,” said Makgoga.
“It’s not Patrice who wasn’t to be president. We are the ones who are raising the name of Patrice. So no one can question the issue of Patrice within the ranks of the ANC. We are repeating it, we are asking the NEC of the ANC to swallow their pride and ask Patrice to come and lead the ANC,” he added.

Makgoga also took a swipe at ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula for questioning Motsepe’s credentials within the ranks of the ANC.
“It’s surprising to see other people stand up before the media questioning who Patrice is within the ranks of the ANC. The person who was elected in 1994 to serve in the legislature in his province of North West.
“But the SG of the ANC stood up and questioned who Patrice is? Even my 11-year-old son knows who Patrice is in this country. But how can the leadership of the ANC remain so quiet about what the SG of the ANC has done?”
