The municipality says they have immediately activated their building Inspectorate team to assess the site and verify compliance against approved building plans.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased. This is a painful reminder of why we continue to place strong emphasis on building safety and compliance across our municipality,” said Mpe.
“The municipality persists in safeguarding strict building control measures. We will not hesitate to act where non-compliance poses a risk to human life.”
