Limpopo Championship gets underway in Mookgophong

The 7th edition of the Limpopo Golf Championship is currently underway at the Euphoria Golf & Lifestyle Estate in Mookgophong, Waterberg. 

From Thursday, 9 October to Sunday, 12 October 2025, more than 124 professional golfers will compete for a total prize purse of R2.5 million. The event is hosted by Sunshine Tour in partnership with Limpopo Tourism Agency.

The prestigious tournament has drawn a strong field of European-based, African and South African golfers.

These include defending champion Deon Germishuys, two of the top three players on the Sunshine Tour’s Courier Guy Order of Merit, and seven of the past 10 champions on the Tour this season.

Germishuys, who won this title with a tournament record of 22 under par last year, is making his return from his commitments on the DP World Tour.

“This is a Golf event of a different kind. The jobs that will be created here we expect not less than 80,” said Limpopo Tourism Agency [LTA] board Chairperson, Andrew Dipela.

“But also, we are sure that the players that will be here, in terms of accommodation, hospitality and catering, will be able to support our small businesses that are around the Waterberg District.”

Meanwhile, the LTA has also announced that they are extending the partnership with the Sunshine Tour for another three years.
