ANC retains Fetakgomo-Tubatse Municipality ward 34
The ANC has retained the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality ward 34 seat following the by-elections on Wednesday, 3 September 2025.
The ward vacancy, previously represented by the African National Congress [ANC] in the Sekhukhune District, occurred due to the death of the Ward Councillor.

The party won the ward in the 2021 Local Government Elections. It reclaimed it with 78.67% of the total valid votes cast on Wednesday.
They were contesting against the EFF, Bolsheviks Party of South Africa [BPSA], the Defenders of the People [DOP], South African Communist Party [SACP].

The ANC says the results in the by-election unequivocally reaffirm that the party is the dependable choice of the people.
“These victories come as a powerful prelude to the Special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Local Government and the Roll Call of Councillors Meeting,” said the ANC.
The voter turnout for the by-election in Sekhukhune was 49.66%. This is compared to the 46.36% voter turnout for the ward in the 2021 Local Government Elections.

ANC – 78.67% [2715]
EFF – 15.24% [526]
DOP – 4.38 [151]
SACP – 0.93% [32]
BPSA – 0.78 [27]
