ANCYL Limpopo calls Stan Mathabatha dramatic, cowardice
The ANCYL in Limpopo has labelled provincial chairperson Stan Mathabatha as a coward and dramatic, following his intention to resign from his position.
Mathabatha has written to ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula, communicating his decision to voluntarily stop leading the ANC in the province. The 68-year-old has been chairperson of the ANC in the province since 2014.

He says there are unethical and what he calls un-ANC tendencies occurring, particularly in relation to the processes towards and conduct within the conference of the Vhembe and Waterberg regions.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the League has called on the ANC to reject the resignation of Mathabatha.
“It can’t be a provincial Chairperson who is expected to provide a perspicacious assessment of the situation and therefore provide a solution; instead, we are being dragged into this dramatic posture as a movement,” said Provincial Secretary of the ANCYL in Limpopo, Phineas Sebola.

“Limpopo further refuses the characterisation of the ANC as purported in the letter. If there is degeneration in the character of our movement, it is the role of its leadership to take responsibility, not to run away from issues, but instead to provide leadership.
“This, in our observation, is a sign of cowardice. We call on the leadership of the ANC to reject this step aside. If Cde Mathabatha feels that what he calls his integrity is too big for the ANC, he might as well pen a short resignation letter without causing drama.
“This must be accompanied with resignation from Parliament and his role as a deputy minister.”
