Male teachers at Limpopo school don skirts to celebrate women
Male teachers of Khujwana Primary School outside Tzaneen in Limpopo donned dresses and skirts to celebrate the last day of Women’s Month.
According to the Tzaneen Informant, the initiative, led by the school’s principal, aimed to show appreciation for women and raise awareness about the pervasive issues of gender-based violence [GBV] and femicide in the country.

Khujwana Primary School principal, Mr Moagi, shared his delight with the same publication on the successful turnout.
“Today we are celebrating our women, as this is the last day in women’s month,” he said.
“We thought we must do something to show our appreciation, and we decided to dress up like women.”

The principal admitted to some initial apprehension about his colleagues’ willingness to participate.
“It wasn’t hard to convince my male teachers, but I was panicking a little thinking they might not participate as planned, but they did, and I’m happy,” he alluded.
Women’s Month, celebrated annually in August in South Africa, pays tribute to the more than 20,000 women who marched to the Union Buildings on August 9, 1956, to protest the apartheid-era pass laws.
This significant historical event laid the foundation for a month-long focus on the struggles and achievements of women and serves as a platform to address the ongoing challenges they face.
