Limpopo learner knocked and killed by a scholar transport bus

A grade 2 female learner from Muhluri Primary School, in Vhembe West Education District, Limpopo, was knocked down and killed by a scholar Transport Bus on Thursday afternoon.

It is said the 7-year-old had just alighted from the bus when the accident happened. It is alleged that she was knocked down by another bus when trying to cross the road.

The learner was certified dead on the scene. Limpopo Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has sent her condolences to the family.

The department has also announced that Social workers are expected to visit both the family of the deceased learner and the school on Friday for Psycho-social support.

“The death of a learner is always tragic to the family and a great loss to the nation,” said MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya.

“I am deeply saddened by the untimely death of yet another learner in an accident. My heart and thoughts are with the family during this difficult time. We will offer them all the necessary support.”
