Five inmates killed in horrific R101 Limpopo accident

A Police officer and five inmates lost their lives following a horrific motor vehicle accident on the R101 between Mokopane and Mookgophong, Limpopo, on Thursday morning.

The Police officer had just collected 11 inmates from a Mokopane Police station to attend court in Mookgophong. Seven other inmates were injured and transported to the hospital.

The road is currently closed, and motorists are advised to take Alternative Routes.

    – Mokopane to Mookgophong: Take the N1 from Zebetiela Weighbridge on R101.

    –  Mookgophong to Mokopane: Use the Mookgophong on and off-ramp.

Traffic officers are at the scene in both directions to redirect traffic. The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety advises motorists to expect delays and plan their route accordingly.
