No more soft life for Hendrick Makuya’s dog “Bobby”
Limpopo content creator Hendrick Makuya, well known for spoiling his dog “Bobby” with fast food treats, found himself in hot water following a visit by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals [SPCA].
Makuya, from Ha-Makuya Mutshikilini outside Thohoyandou, is known for feeding Bobby with buckets of KFC, normally on the dog’s ‘birthdays’, which he says are every month.

But Bobby appeared thin and possibly malnourished, prompting a wave of criticism. This has also caught the attention of the Louis Trichardt branch of the SPCA, which visited Makuya last week.
The SPCA explained that fast foods like KFC contain spices, salt, and other ingredients that can be harmful to dogs, potentially causing upset stomachs, allergic reactions, and even long-term health problems. They also provided Makuya with proper dog food.

The SPCA also clarified that the donation was a once-off gesture aimed at demonstrating the correct diet for dogs.
Makuya says SPCA representatives came to fetch him from school to hand over a dog food donation.
“I was not aware that feeding my dog with KFC is wrong. I thought I was giving it a soft life,” he told Tzaneen Voice.
