Man [51] arrested for rape of a minor girl in exchange for food

A 51-year-old man has been arrested for repeatedly raping an 11-year-old minor child in return for food in Makgofe outside Seshego, Limpopo.

It is reported that the victim was staying with her aunt during the commission of the crime, which occurred from 2021 until 2023.

The aunt allegedly sent her to the suspect’s place to go and request food without giving her money. He then took advantage and raped the victim in return for the food.

The victim reported the ordeal to her aunt, who unfortunately turned a blind eye on the incident and kept quiet. The aunt continued sending the victim to the suspect, who continued to rape the child in return for the food.

In January 2024, the family members received a tip-off about a rape incident and subsequently reported the matter to the Police in Seshego in March 2024. A case of rape was reported in March 2024.

On Wednesday 06 August 2025, Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offenses unit (FCS) received information about a rape case.

The investigation led to the apprehension of a 51-year-old man. He is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon for rape.
