N1 Polokwane – Mokopane slippery due to hailstorm

There’s a hailstorm on the N1 between Polokwane and Mokopane, Limpopo and motorists are advised to drive with caution due to slippery roads.  Two accidents have already occurred in different sections of the N1 South.

Accident 1: Ysterberg

 -Three vehicles were involved in a side swipe accident [HMV Petrol Tanker, LDV, and BMW].

 -Status: No injuries, 1 lane closed

Accident 2: Caltex next to The Ranch Resort

 -Head-on collision between a heavy motor vehicle and a light delivery vehicle

-Status: 2 people transported to the hospital

Traffic officers are monitoring the situation on N1, and all emergency services stakeholders are on standby.

It’s recommended that motorists exercise extra caution when driving in these conditions by reducing speed, maintaining a safe following distance, and activating headlights for improved visibility.
