Man running from Durban to Thohoyandou edges closer to home
Nditsheni “Gethe” Mathobo [48] from Dididi Village in the Vhembe District, Limpopo, is getting closer to completing his 1080km race, which runs from Durban to Thohoyandou.
He began his journey on 21 July 2025 and is expected to arrive in Thohoyandou on 08 August 2025 between 12h00-13h00.

On Wednesday, Mathobo passed through the City of Polokwane en route to Louis Trichardt. He’s been running for more than 20 days.
The main purpose of the run is to support people who live with chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, high Cholesterol, high blood pressure and others.

He has won 11 Comrades Marathon medals [7 Silver] and 4 Bill Rowan. His welcome function is organized by the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Vhembe, Vhembe District Municipality, Thulamela Local Municipality in collaboration with Matase Industrial Solutions, Mphaphuli Town and Rofhiwa Manwadu Foundation. It is anticipated that he will arrive at Thavhani Mall at 13:00.
