Charges against one of pig farm murder accused withdrawn
The National Prosecuting Authority [NPA] has provisionally withdrawn the charges against accused number two, Rudolf de Wet, in the Limpopo pig farm murder case.
De Wet, together with Zacharia Olivier [accused number one] and William Musora [accused number one], allegedly shot and killed Maria Makgato and Lucia Ndlovu and dumped their bodies in a pigsty at Onverwacht farm in Sebayeng outside Polokwane in August last year. They allegedly fed the remains of Makgato and Ndlovu to the pigs at the farm.

However, De Wet [20], who is an employee of accused number one and farm owner Olivier [60], has now turned state witness. He was the farm supervisor at the time of the incident.
The state dropped charges against him on Thursday when he appeared in court for the finalisation of pre-trial proceedings.

Their trial has been postponed until October after Olivier’s legal representative requested more time to prepare.
“Accused number two has been turned state witness under Section 204, which means that his charges have been withdrawn for now,” said NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.
“He is going to testify. If the court finds out that he is testifying frankly and honestly, then he’ll be acquitted or discharged.”
