Makhuduthamaga Mayor addresses water Infrastructure Repairs
The Mayor of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, Masekwele Merah Mahlase, engaged with the traditional leaders of Ga-Moretsele, Ward 12, regarding the Water Infrastructure Repairs and Maintenance Project on Wednesday.
The initiative forms part of a broader service delivery programme implemented through a memorandum of understanding [MOU] with Sekhukhune District Municipality to restore water infrastructure across the municipality.

“The purpose of the engagement was to formally present the contractor appointed to repair,” said spokesperson Thomas Mashabela.
“To restore existing water infrastructure projects in the area and to secure the support of traditional leadership as key stakeholders in ensuring successful implementation.”
The Mayor was accompanied by EXCO members; Head of Economic Development and Planning [ED] Makatishe Eric Mosoane, Head of Community Services Peter Tabane Rankoe [also in his capacity as Ward 12 Councillor], Deputy Head of Infrastructure Development Makanyoge Morwamakoti, Municipal Manager Mr. Ronald Moganedi, and ward councillors from other areas.

During the session, the Municipality outlined the project’s implementation plan and emphasized the importance of traditional leadership support to ensure smooth progress.
Mayor Mahlase appealed to the traditional leadership to enable the work to proceed without interference, highlighting that their cooperation is crucial for the success of this and future service delivery initiatives.
The Municipality also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring traditional leaders that the project will be implemented in an open and responsible manner.
Traditional leaders welcomed the engagement, expressed appreciation for being consulted, and pledged their support to ensure the project’s success.
