Limpopo mother in court for murder of three-month-old infant
A 20-year-old mother, Andisani Dephney Nthabalala, from Mailaskop Village, Limpopo, briefly appeared in the Tshitale Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of murder of her three-month-old infant.
It is alleged that on Friday, 01 August 2025, the accused killed her three-month-old infant by pressing her leg against the child’s neck until the baby succumbed to the injuries.

Police were on patrol duties when they were summoned at the Vleifontein clinic at about 18:30 after being informed about two individuals who brought a deceased child to the facility.
Upon arrival, a medical officer pointed to the lifeless body of a child on the bed. The duo informed police that they were seated outside the house with a 20-year-old female suspect holding the child.

The case has been postponed to 12 August 2025 to allow the accused to secure legal representation. She will remain in custody until her next court appearance.
