Mother and daughter’s bodies discovered without heads
A boyfriend and a traditional healer are among four suspects arrested, following the gruesome discovery of the headless bodies of a woman [34] and her two-year-old daughter, outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo.
The mother and her child were reported missing in mid-May 2025. The two were residents at Malavuwe Mphalaleni village and were allegedly last seen at Tshilungoma village when the mother indicated that they were heading to Thohoyandou town to purchase electricity.

Unfortunately, their decapitated bodies were discovered on Wednesday, July 30, reportedly at Ha-Tshikonelo. Their heads were reputedly discovered at the home of a traditional healer in Muraga village.
The first two suspects, Tshilidzi Phalandwa [43] and Balangani Sedzani Tshivhombedze [32], were arrested and made their first court appearance last week.

Further investigations led to the arrest of a 38-year-old Traditional Healer at Muraga village. He was found in possession of the missing heads of the two victims and was also placed under arrest. Another 55-year-old suspect has also been arrested.
They will appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s court on Monday, 04 August 2025, facing a charge of murder. Furthermore, a charge of possession of human tissue will be added against the traditional healer.
