Makhadzi threatens to pull out from festival over font size
Despite smoking a peace pipe with the organisers of the Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival, Limpopo Musician Makhadzi has threatened to withdraw if they don’t increase the font size on her name.
The Phalaphala FM Royal Heritage Festival line-up was officially unveiled in Thohoyandou on Friday.
This year’s line-up includes Makhadzi, who was not included in last year’s event due to disagreements over performance fees.

Makhadzi went on to host her One Woman Show at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, which proved to be a success despite damaging the pitch surface.
On the line-up for this year’s event, which also forms part of the SABC Radio Station’s 60th anniversary celebration, Makhadzi is included in the line-up of one of the most electrifying music Festivals in the country.
The 2024 Viewer’s Choice, Best New International Act award winner took to Facebook on Friday to complain about the size of the font on her name.

“I worked hard for this name to be disrespected at home. All those names that are written before my name, they don’t even pitch to a lot of shows in Venda.
They disrespect my people, and on top of that, you prioritise them. Noooo, not on my watch. I can see where it’s going.”
“Font ikhotshentshiwe kana rive khazwo.” [Either the font will be changed or I am no longer part of it.]
“Ndono khudzukana magona [I have worked hard] for my name. Husi unyadziwa sooo [Not to be disrespected like this]. Ihotshentshiwa kana kho refund [It must be changed or I refund]. Good night.
“O advisaho poster ovha ohangwa uri azwiiti zwavhudi kha nee [The person who designed the poster forgot that I can be troublesome]. Ndinyadziwa Gauteng na venda? [I get disrespected in Gauteng and also Venda?]
