‘I’m still resilient’ – Please call me idea-man after ConCourt ruling
Please Call Me idea-man, Kenneth Makate insists he remains resilient following the Constitutional Court ruling on his legal battle with Vodacom on Thursday.
The Constitutional Court referred the ongoing matter back to the Supreme Court of Appeal [SCA] after it said the SCA made several errors in its latest judgment to award Makate billions in compensation, which has now been set aside.

Acting Deputy Chief Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga said the SCA failed to allow for a free trial. The ConCourt ordered that the matter go back to the court for a rerun.
“Well, I am still reliant, and I will forever be,” Makate told journalists after the ruling.
We will go to the SCA. The SCA must just relook at the case and provide us with a judgment that will then stand the test.
“Well, the court has not decided on anything that the SCA has done except for them not to express themselves on certain things that were before the SCA. So clearly they just need to agree themselves on that.”
The Constitutional Court granted Vodacom leave to appeal the Supreme Court decision that overturned its initial R47 million compensation offer, an offer that was rejected by Makate in 2019.
Makate is demanding R9.4 billion from the telecommunications giant for the Please Call Me service he developed in 2001.
