Limpopo innovator builds concept car from scratch
Thabiso Mosoma [28], also known as “Jackstha,” from Phalaborwa in Limpopo, began building his concept car during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
His love for automotive design and engineering began at a young age, learning from his father, Piet Mosoma, a self-taught mechanic.
It took “Jackstha” five years building what he calls the ‘Phalaborwa Concept Car’ using parts from scooters, motorcycles, and quad bikes. The car uses a 150cc scooter engine, combined with a quad bike gearbox, and runs on petrol.

“I started when I was young, I don’t really remember, between ages 5 and 6. So I started the Concept car in 2020 when I was 23 years old,” Mosoma told Limpopo Chronicle.
“I was creating things; I started creating real things like bicycles at age 12, and also created a lot of projects in high school. During the science expo at age 16 I created a prototype of a toy car that can change wheels by itself.
“I collected Gold medals that year, after completing my grade 12, I didn’t have anything to do, and I didn’t get the opportunity to go to college.”

“My ultimate dream is to start a company that will manufacture different types of transport. We might not be able to create cars now, but we can create other things like bicycles, go karts and motorcycles.”
Among other projects that the talented innovator has created is a Cargo tricycle that can load more than 150kg.
What makes the Tricycle even more special is that it comes with a washing machine. He can wash clothes while travelling or chilling at home, so basically, you exercise while doing laundry.
Other projects include a Tall bike, Mopani Chopper, Puppy Bike and Half wheel bike.
