Controversial Limpopo pastor accused of rape remanded in custody

Pastor Sikhubu Phathutshedzo [40], better known as Prophet Innocent Muritho, appeared before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court, Limpopo on Monday, after his arrest for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl at his church in Sibasa.

Prophet Muritho, also known for hosting an annual lavish party for his dog, Jackie, was arrested on Sunday, 20 July 2025.

He allegedly called the minor girl to come to the church premises on 9 July. Upon her arrival, the victim found the pastor alone in the church office.

It is alleged that Prophet Muritho locked the door and forced the victim to perform sexual acts before repeatedly raping her.

The suspect then allegedly instructed the victim to remain silent about the incident. She courageously disclosed the ordeal to her family on Saturday, 19 July 2025, after which the police were immediately notified.

A case of rape was opened and investigated by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit. The suspect was arrested on Sunday, 20 July 2025.

He was remanded in custody until 30 July 2025 for profiling and further investigations by the Police.
