Tributes pour in for late SuperSport TV Presenter Phumlani Msibi
The SA football fraternity continues to send condolences to late SuperSport TV presenter Phumlani Msibi, who died at the age of 57. Msibi, of ‘Thoughts Please’ fame, died on Friday following a long illness.
He had not been seen on the TV screens since the beginning of the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League season.
He started as a ring announcer with the late boxing promoter, Mzi Mnguni, in the late 1990s before becoming a seasoned boxing commentator.

“SuperSport is saddened to learn of the passing of legendary sports commentator, presenter and anchor Phumlani Msibi.
“Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends and colleagues following this great loss,” the broadcaster announced on Friday.

Meanwhile, the PSL has announced that a moment of silence will be observed ahead of today’s Promotion Play-off fixture in honour of his legacy.
“The Premier Soccer League [PSL] is deeply saddened by the passing of legendary sports broadcaster, Phumlani Msibi,” the PSL said in a statement on Saturday.
“A respected voice in South African sport, Mr Msibi made a lasting contribution to the beautiful game of football through his work as a presenter, commentator, and field reporter. The PSL extends its heartfelt condolences to the Msibi family during this difficult time.
As a mark of respect, a moment of silence will be observed ahead of today’s Promotion Play-off fixture in honour of his legacy. May his soul repose peacefully.”
