A prophet, traditional healer arrested for rape in Limpopo
A 35-year-old prophet, who is also a traditional healer, was arrested for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl at Makhwibidung village in Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality, Limpopo.
The girl was brought to the suspect’s place by her mother for the prophet’s services, as they believed she was sick. She then left the victim with the suspect for a session.

According to a Police report, the suspect told the teenager that the ancestors had told him to have sexual intercourse with her because it would heal her and that it should remain between them, and she would receive training to become a sangoma as well.
The victim was allegedly raped repeatedly between May 11 and May 13, 2025. She later fled the place. The matter was reported to the police. A case of rape was opened leading to the subsequent arrest of the suspect.

He was positively identified and immediately arrested for rape at Makhwibidung village. The man was detained at the Maake police station.
He will appear before the Maake Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 04 June 2025, on charges of rape. Police investigations are ongoing.
