ANC receives disputes over Peter Mokaba regional conference
The ANC in Limpopo has received a dispute letter relating to the validity of the Peter Mokaba Regional Conference. This was confirmed by the party’s provincial spokesperson, Jimmy Machaka on Wednesday.
Peter Mokaba held its 10th Regional Conference on 22-23 May 2025, following postponements caused by outstanding disputes and appeals by the Provincial Dispute Resolution Committee [PDRC] and National Dispute Resolution Committee [NDRC].

The conference saw the re-election of John Mpe as the Chairperson for a third term unopposed. This is after the slate supporting Limpopo ANC Women’s League chairperson and Capricorn District Executive Mayor Mamedupi Teffo, who was challenging Mpe walked out of the conference.
The ANC Peter Mokaba Region conference descended into chaos on its first day, with delegates clashing and hurling chairs and tablecloths at one another in dispute
Delegates supporting Teffo accused the Regional Task Team [RTT] of allowing “bogus” delegates into the venue. This led to verbal disputes that escalated into physical confrontations.
This led to Police intervening to restore order, and the conference continued with the election of Mpe and his slate uncontested.

The top five also includes Masilo Edward Paya as the Deputy Chairperson. Lesiba Matsemela was elected secretary of the region, Kholofelo Lehong as deputy secretary, while Merriam Molala is the new treasurer.
In an official post on Wednesday, Machaka says a letter challenging the validity of the conference has been sent to the National Executive Committee [NEC].
“The Dispute was directed to ANC National Leadership and Copied to the Province. The PEC shall await the decision of the NEC on the matter and will not be able to engage Members of the Media on the Subject Matter until the final decision by the NEC,” said Machaka.
