Construction of Airport in Giyani illegal
Gateway Airports Authority Limited [GAAL] have distanced itself from what it said is unauthorised construction of the F.Y Siyandhani Airport in Giyani.
On Friday, the Bombo Investment Group in partnership with the Siyandhani Tribal Authority, launched phase one of the Airport in Siyandhani village.
But GAAL say they are both dismayed and deeply concerned by Bombo Investment Group’s decision to proceed with the initiative.

“As the official custodian responsible for the management of all public aviation assets within the Limpopo Province, this action was taken despite a formal directive issued by the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety (DTCS), instructing them to halt all planned activities associated with the airport’s development,” said GAAL.

“Bombo Investment Group was adequately informed that any further steps toward the development of the Siyandhani Airport would be premature and potentially in violation of public procurement laws. The facility is a state-owned aviation asset, and as such, any investment or development related to it must follow due legal and regulatory processes.”
“Given the circumstances, the matter has been referred to our legal advisors for review, and appropriate actions will be taken based on their guidance.”
“We urge all prospective investors and stakeholders to respect due process and engage with GAAL and the Department directly to ensure legal compliance and proper coordination on all infrastructure development efforts.
