Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality Mayor Meriam Molala had to be escorted by bouncers from angry community members during an IDP Meeting Roadshow in Lebowakgomo Block F, Limpopo on Wednesday.

The public participation consultation process covered the municipality’s four clusters (Mathabatha /Mafefe cluster, Mphahlele cluster, Zebediela cluster, Lebowakgomo cluster).
It allows members of the community to share their ward priorities with the municipality, which ultimately assists the institution in formulating the budget.
But before the process began in Lebowakgomo, the Mayor was welcomed by disgruntled community members.

The residents accuse the mayor and his council of poor service delivery, corruption, maladministration, and nepotism. Eyewitnesses say the residents started throwing stones towards the Mayor as she arrived at the venue.
Mayor Meriam Molala had to be escorted by her security personnel from the angry members. Although the security fired shots at community members, no fatalities were reported.
It is unclear if the mayor will continue with the consultation process this week. She is expected to visit the Zebediela cluster at Ga- Rafiri Village, Shining Stars Sports Ground on Thursday at 10.
Mayor Molala is also scheduled to visit Mafefe/ Mathabatha Cluster at Phasing Village [Ga-Mathabatha], Phokwane Sports Ground.
