Court dismisses application to interdict ANC Vhembe conference
The 9th ANC Vhembe Regional conference is underway following a court ruling by the Thohoyandou High Court, Limpopo to strike off an urgent application to Interdict.
Some disgruntled members and the party’s Regional Task Team approached the court on Saturday. They were challenging the process to prepare for the regional elective conference.

They state that the decision by the party’s national and provincial leadership to allow each branch to send five delegates to verify nominations conflicts with the revised ANC guidelines.
The decision to approach also follows the decision by ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula to wield an axe against Vhembe regional secretary Rudzani Ludere. Ludere was stripped of his responsibilities of running the registration processes and finalising the preparations for the region’s elective conference.

But the application to the Interdict Conference was struck off the roll with costs, including that of counsel.
“The provincial executive committee of the ANC welcome the outcomes of the Thohoyandou High Court,” said party spokesperson Jimmy Machaka on Sunday.
“We are calling upon structures and members of the ANC to refrain from using the courts in order to resolve political issues.
“This outcome has now paved a way for the long-awaited regional conference in Vhembe will conclude its business.”
