More speedsters arrested on N1 Limpopo
Two speedsters were arrested for clocking at 198km/h and 199km/h in a 120km/h zone on the N1 Limpopo this past weekend. A 38-year-old VW Golf driver was apprehended on the N1 freeway near Bela-Bela, Limpopo on Sunday.
A day earlier, a 29-year-old driver was nabbed in a Renault Clio hatchback on the same stretch of road.

Both drivers spent the night in custody before being granted bail of R1000.00 each and are set to appear in the Bela-Bela Magistrate’s Court on 29 April 2025.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety say they are intensifying efforts to curb reckless driving on the roads.
“Recent arrests serve as a stark warning to motorists that excessive speeding will not be tolerated,” the department said on Monday.

“Speeding is a leading cause of road fatalities, often resulting in severe injuries and loss of life. The consequences of reckless driving are devastating, affecting not only drivers but also innocent passengers, pedestrians, and families.
“We urge all drivers to obey speed limits at all times and exercise caution on the roads. Let’s work together to make our roads safer.”
Traffic officials have apprehended a number of drivers of the Easter period. This includes a 25-year-old VW Polo GTi driver who was speeding at 214 km/h near Mokopane.
