Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, has officially launched Operation Tsoga Moshomi, which translates as “Wake Up, Worker.

The Operation Tsoga Moshomi is a call to action for all employees to renew their commitment to the values of Batho Pele, ethical conduct, and efficient service delivery to the people of Limpopo.
The initiative forms part of the MEC’s broader strategy to build a responsive, people-centered department that takes pride in delivering quality public infrastructure and services, especially in the most rural and underserved parts of the province.
“We are not just employees of the government. We are public servants,” said MEC Rachoene.
“This is not about punishment. It is about passion. It is about finding pride in your work again. Every pothole we fix, every school we build, every road we open – those are not just tasks; they are legacies we leave behind for future generations,” he added.

“The campaign will include regular monitoring of departmental projects, intensified site visits, performance appraisals, and open dialogues between management and employees,” he said.
“It will also celebrate excellence and hard work through internal recognition programmes that highlight individuals and teams who go above and beyond in fulfilling their duties. We are in a process of building internal capacity where we are employing people at our 36 cost centres, district offices and at Head Office, so now it’s time to monitor them to make sure work is done,” says MEC Rachoene.
The MEC emphasised that the initiative is not a once-off event but a sustained internal revolution to entrench a culture of accountability, punctuality, and results.
MEC Rachoene concluded his address to the employees at the cost centre with a clarion call to all public servants “people of Limpopo deserve nothing less.”
