Drunk driver arrested for bribery on N1 Limpopo
A drunk driver was arrested for trying to bribe National Traffic Police officers with R300 on the N1 Limpopo near Mokopane on Easter Friday.
The arrested drunk driver was stopped by officers on the N1 in Limpopo. When it was discovered that he was drunk, the driver offered to pay the officers to ignore the offence.
The officers immediately placed him under arrest and took him to Mokopane police station, where he was charged with bribery and drunk driving.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation has commended the officers for showing that they are not for sale and that road safety is not negotiable.
“Traffic officers will undertake heightened drunk driving operations today as history shows that this kind of conduct increases on weekends,” they said.

Meanwhile, Traffic volumes are expected to be normal in Limpopo on Saturday. No fatal accidents have been reported thus far.
Minister of Transport Barbara Creecy will provide an Easter road safety campaign update during a media briefing at Kranskop Toll Plaza on the N1 freeway in Waterberg District, Limpopo, on Monday.
The briefing will provide updates on road safety statistics, enforcement operations undertaken, and progress in ensuring safer roads during the long Easter weekend on South African roads
