Warning to Limpopo liquor restaurants
The Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism [LEDET] has sent out a strong warning to some liquor restaurant license holders who operate beyond 02:00 or 04:00 in the mornings.
LEDET says only license holders categorized as “Entertainment” are permitted to operate until 04h00 in the morning, which is stated on their licenses.

In terms of the Limpopo Liquor Act 2009, “entertainment” places refer to theatres, cinemas, dance halls, sports centres, casinos or places where legal gambling activities take place.
“Violations such as trading outside of permitted hours, selling alcohol to minors, creating public nuisances, and failure to display required documentation will result in strict enforcement actions. The Limpopo Liquor Board may impose penalties including the suspension or cancellation of liquor licenses,” said LEDET in a statement.

“No liquor restaurant license holder is permitted to operate post 02h00 in the morning. The operating time for every license holder are clearly stipulated on the Liquor License. All license holders are to adhere to the operating times.
“The Liquor Appeal Tribunal will not set aside the decision of the board where traders have blatantly disregarded the law.”
The warning to Limpopo Liquor restaurant holders comes after some have been reportedly operating beyond hours in Polokwane CBD.
