Gauta BMX team finally arrive in Cape Town
The Gauta BMX Team have just finished their epic 1,700KM journey from Burgersfort, Limpopo to Cape Town. Gauta Mahlakoane, Karabo Mokoo and Maxwell Ndou ended their incredible 13-day journey on ordinary BMX bicycles despite the stumbling blocks, including an injury to one of the team members.

They were welcomed by Limpopo MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Jerry Maseko, MEC for Health, Dieketseng Mashego, Mayor of Fetakgomo-Tubatse Municipality, Eddie Maila, and Cape Town Executive Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis.
The three young cyclists have been capturing hearts with their cross-country ride from Burgersfort to the Mother City. They were on a mission to raise funds and awareness for their community bike club, which offers young people an alternative to crime and drugs.

Limpopo Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, who has been in constant contact with the Gauta BMX trio, expressed her deep appreciation after they finished their journey.
“What these young men have done is no ordinary matter. They have not just thought outside the box; they have kicked the box and redefined what is possible. Their courage and innovative spirit are a testimony to the potential of our youth,” said Premier Ramathuba.
The provincial government has arranged for them to visit iconic sites such as Robben Island, Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront and other places of interest, enriching their experience in the city.
Upon their return, the Limpopo Provincial Government is planning a special reception to honour their achievements and provide them with a platform to inspire other young people
“The presence of the Limpopo delegation at their arrival will serve as a powerful reminder that their journey is not only appreciated but celebrated by the entire province. The Provincial Government invites everyone to join in recognising the spirit of adventure and determination embodied by these young men,” said the office of the Premier.
