Thugs break in at a mortuary in Limpopo
An elderly security guard was brutally attacked with a pick handle and axe by unknown suspects at Luvhani Mortuary in Nzhelele, Limpopo on Friday.
The victim sustained injuries to his head and legs and was transported to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. The suspects stole equipment from the mortuary and fled the scene.
Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in identifying and apprehending the suspects.

Meanwhile, a security company owner in Vhembe was handed a heavy sentence for the murder of Abraham Mulovhedzi. Mulovhedzi’s body was discovered floating in the Vombe River at Makhuvha village. Mulovhedzi was allegedly caught trying to steal on 25 February 2022 at 19:00.
He was tied up with ropes on both legs and hands by two security guards who called the owner to the premises. On his arrival, the security company owner Nyambeni Makhipa [43], the alleged suspect, was assaulted using wood and also pepper spray.
After one hour of assaulting the alleged suspect, Makhipa ordered one of his employees to accompany him to Thohoyandou police Station to hand him over. On 01 March 2022, the dead body of Mulovhedzi was discovered floating in the river.
Makhipa and his two employees were subsequently arrested. But the charges against two security guards were withdrawn.

The Thohoyandou High Court sentenced the accused Nyambeni Makhipa as follows:
- Murder twenty years in jail
- Robbery ten years in jail
- Kidnapping: ten years in jail
- Defeating the ends of justice: Five years in jail.
“I would like to appreciate a thorough investigation conducted which led to this heavy sentence against this security company owner,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
“This will send a clear cut message that never takes law into your own hands. But hand over suspects to the police.”
