Minister Boshielo, Speaker Makhurupetje graduate at UL
Deputy Minister of Police Polly Boshielo and Speaker of the Provincial Legislature Makoma Makhurupetje were amongst 35 doctoral graduates conferred with their degrees at the University of Limpopo.
The University of Limpopo hosted its 2025 Graduation Ceremonies, celebrating academic success and leadership. The autumn ceremonies took place from 7 and will end on 14 April with more than 4,350 graduates receiving their qualifications.

“The graduation of 35 PhD and 226master’s candidates marks a significant milestone in UL’s ongoing contribution to research, innovation and leadership,” said the University.
“These graduates are not just earning degrees—they are the architects of tomorrow, shaping policies, solving society’s toughest challenges while pushing boundaries in fields such as governance, administration, science, and technology.

“UL is committed to producing highly skilled graduates who will make meaningful contributions to academia, industry, and public service. The achievements of this year’s graduates reinforce UL’s status as a hub of excellence, innovation, and leadership in higher education.”
The ceremony was attended by amongst others the Premier of Limpopo Dr Phophi Ramathuba alongside His Grace The Right Bishop Reverend Dr B E Lekganyane.
“We are saying to you, vice chancellor with the current 38 graduates of PHD, I want to believe that knowledge will be critically required towards turning around the misfortunes of our province,” said Premier Dr Ramathuba.
“We want to see water challenges being resolved. I heard some of you are graduating in that field. I also heard some of you graduating in the field of Agriculture and understanding that Agriculture in our province is one of those sectors that we must use to make sure that we grow our economy.”
