Limpopo pensioner killed after receiving his social grant
A Pensioner was killed in his home at Gumbani village outside Malamulele in Limpopo after he had received his grant. The body of Khazamula Ronald Mabasa was discovered the following day by his family members.
The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear, but it is suspected that he may have been attacked after receiving his money.

Collins Chabane Local Municipality Mayor Shadrack Maluleke visited the family of the pensioner on Friday. The visit follows community outrage over the brutal killing of Mabasa.
Mayor Maluleke extended his heartfelt condolences to the Mabasa family and all residents of Gumbani village. He further urged the South African Police Service to speed up their investigation into the case while at the same pleading with the community to be the first defenders of elderly people.
“It is a rotten culture to abuse elderly citizens and it must come to an end,” said Mayor Maluleke on the Municipality’s official Facebook page.

“We cannot tolerate this behaviour of terrorising our communities and making elderly people live in fear, especially people who cannot defend themselves.
“We shall try by all means to push the SAPS to catch the perpetrators of this crime and we believe that the hand of justice shall prevail.”
