MEC Rachoene unveils 168 new permanent staff members
The MEC for Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene on Tuesday unveiled over 168 new permanent staff members. To date, MEC Rachoene has welcomed a total of 342 new employees since the welcoming of the first cohort in December 2024.
When he ascended to the office, Rachoene promised to ensure there is internal capacity to deliver on the mandate of the department.

Of the 168 new workers, 67 are females, 80 are young people and two persons with disabilities. 52 of them will be attached to the Roads Infrastructure unit, to further capacitate the Dikgerekgere teams at the 36 cost centres across the province.

In welcoming the new staff, MEC Rachoene impressed them that public service is not just a job; it is a calling.
“This is a realisation of one of the priorities of the 7th Administration, under the stewardship of our Honourable Premier Mme Dr. Phophi Ramathuba. This is not just an appointment of employees, but an effort which will directly translate into strong government capacity. Just in December last year the department appointed 174 new employees,” said Rachoene. “It requires dedication, integrity, and a deep understanding that the work done impacts millions of lives.”
Commissioner of the Public Service Commission, Mr. Magerule Sekonya also emphasised on what being a public servant means, focusing on constitutional values, which includes amongst others upholding the rule of law.
