Limpopo Gambling Board warns against illegal gaming
The Limpopo Gambling Board has issued a warning to the public against participating in gaming activities such as Fafi, Dice, Cards or Morabaraba when monies are utilized as bets or incentives for the winner or winning team.
According to the CEO of Limpopo Gambling Board, Gregory Makoko a mere addition of money as a bet or incentive for the winner can land one directly in jail or fined.

Fafi, Dice, Cards, Morabaraba are often played within our communities or on street corners, whereby money-bets are involved.

The Limpopo Gambling Board is against all unregulated gaming activities, which include betting or cash payout, accessories, objects and personal belongings as motivation,” said Makoko.
“The thrill and competitiveness brought about by online gaming, home TV games, and unregulated community tournaments continues to negatively evolve whereby the lines become blurred between gaming and gambling.
“Gambling activities can only take place within regulated and licensed environments such as Casinos, Bingos, Limited Payout Machines, Bookmakers and Totalizators.”
Meanwhile, the Limpopo Gambling industry has contributed an amount of R13 million on Corporate Social Investment during the 2023/24 financial year. The Limpopo Gambling Board together with its partners has already made multiple contributions within various Districts since February 2025.
On Tuesday, LEDET MEC Tshitereke Matibe oversaw the donation of Early Childhood Development learning tools by the Gambling Sector at Meropa Casino & Entertainment World, Polokwane in the Capricorn District.
