Suspect nabbed for illegal sand mining in Jane Furse
A 43-year-old male suspect was arrested for illegal mining of sand at Vergelegen C in Jane Furse, Limpopo. According to information received, the members were conducting disruptive operations at the identified illegal mining sites in Jane Furse when the suspect was found loading sand in a truck without a mining permit.

He was placed under arrest and charged with illegal mining of sand. Police seized four shovels and one pick with handles that were utilised by the suspect.
POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR ILLEGAL SAND MINING IN JANE FURSE
Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the members for affecting an arrest. The suspect paid an admission of guilt, which amounted to R1500.

Meanwhile, a total number of 76 illegal immigrants were also amongst 328 suspects arrested across the province for various offences. This was during the ongoing Operation Shanela conducted across the province.
The operations were jointly executed with external law enforcement agencies. The following items were also recovered and confiscated during the operations:
78,45l litres of alcoholic beverages,
51 ammunition,
R380,00 in cash,
O2 cellphones,
13234 counterfeit goods,
6 dangerous weapons,
0,006 grams of dagga,
0,03 grams of nyaope,
02 firearms,
32800 packets of illicit cigarettes,
01 vehicle part,
01 vehicle trailer.
“I would like to caution the would-be criminals that the police will leave no stone unturned to ensure safety and security of Limpopo citizens,” said Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
