Provincial Commissioner release third-quarter crime stats
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe released the Crime Statistics for the 2nd and 3rd Quarter of 2024/2025 Financial Year. The provincial statistics follows the recent release of the National Crime Statistics by Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu.
Hadebe was joined by MEC for Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo Violet Mathye and other relevant Stakeholders.

The Provincial Commissioner highlighted strides made in dealing with serious and violent crimes in the province. Hadebe also gave insight into some of the complex murder, gender based violence and corruption cases the police have solved in recent times, including the recovery of high calibre firearms.
The province has reported a 2.5% increase in murder cases in the second quarter and a decrease of 29.5% in the third quarter. Limpopo has recorded a 13.2% decrease in attempted murder in the second quarter and a slight reduction of 0.1% in the third quarter.

Carjacking
There were 93 Carjacking incidents in Limpopo between October and December 2024, most of the cases were reported in Thohoyandou.

176 people were kidnapped in Limpopo between October and December 2024, most of the cases were reported in Mankweng.

1138 were raped in Limpopo between October and December 2024, most of the cases were reported in Thohoyandou.

203 people were murdered in Limpopo between October and December 2024, most of them were reported in Seshego.
Serious crimes
Thohoyandou is number one in serious crimes reported between October and December 2024.

There were 338 cases of Robbery at residential premises in the province during the same period.
