Body of a man retrieved in a crocodile infested river
The body of a 36-year-old man, who was reported missing, was found floating in the Letaba River, Lulekani area which is commonly known to be a crocodile and hippopotamus infested river. The man was found on Wednesday, 19 February 2025, at about 13:00.
It is reported that community members noticed some clothes floating in the local river and notified the Police.

They swiftly responded to the complaint. Police together with community members managed to reach the said clothes and found human body parts, which were then retrieved.

They also found an ID book, which matched the names of a male person who was reported missing in the area. His identity is still withheld pending further Police investigations.
Meanwhile, the body of a toddler was recovered from the water in Dwaalboom at Uitanhage Farm, Waterberg District following a drowning incident. The incident also occurred on Wednesday at around 12:00.
According to information, a couple together with their child were in their tin house when heavy rains got into their house, resulting in them being trapped.
The floods became too much and the couple managed to climb on top of the house and unfortunately, the child was swept away by the rain. The farming community activated a chopper to assist the victims and later that day the body of a six-year-old boy was retrieved around the farm.
Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has once again advised community members to be extra cautious around heavy waters or rivers as we are in a rainy season. Parents are also encouraged to take extra care of their children.
