Critical infrastructure like the railway lines along the R510 between Thabazimbi and Northam has also been impacted. Heavy rain has left most roads slippery and some flooded throughout Limpopo.
“In response to this disaster, Thabazimbi Mayor Tumisang Pilane, alongside Chairperson of Infrastructure, Andries Tshukudu, Speaker Dingaan Sebata, Kiniki Sesoma, Ward 5 Councillor Maxwell Magetse, and Ward 7 Councillor Judy Mogapi, visited the areas most severely affected. This includes the informal settlements in Block 1 Extension [Malema Park], Block 7, and Jabulani.

“The team has organized temporary shelter and food provisions for families who have been affected by the flooding,” the municipality said.
“We urge all residents to remain cautious and monitor road conditions. Flood monitoring efforts will continue as heavy rains persist. Stay safe and please reach out to local authorities if you encounter any emergencies related to flooding.”
